Everyone has a Unique Story mode. You play through it to unlock the characters Special Abilities, Ultimate Attacks, Super Tag Attacks, and other Transformations.

In-Game transformations :
Goku's Special Ability is Kaioken. You press L once you have 100% power. It drains Ki until you're down to 30% - 20%. Then it stops.
But not every Special Ability is a transformation.
SSJ Goku's Special Ability is Instant Transmission. You press L once you have 150% Power to use it.
And some people have more than one Special Ability.
Teen Gohan(Which is Adult Gohan in this game) has two.
After 100%, you turn SSJ if you press L.
At 200%(The MAX level you can go), you turn Mystic if you press L.
Gotenks goes SSJ.
SSJ3 Gotenks is a seperate character.

Goku story mode :

I'm at the part in Goku's story where he meets his dad in the after life.
Bardock: What do you say Kakkarott(Sp?)? We could take over this place if we work together.
Goku: Sorry, but that's not really my thing. I'm just not that evil, daddy.
